How to build domes and blobs

Just of flat panels - without any additional supporting structure.

Hitherto, Fuller's geodesic domes as well as freeformed shells need panels that are usually triangular. This causes a lot of waste when the panels are cut from flat material. My novel geometry enables to use quadrangular panels. Then, there are less joints between them. Besides, the configuration of joint lines is more even and simple. This facilitates sealing the point on the vertices between several faces of the surface.

The picture on the left shows the options to enable kinds of shells for very different situations. By omission or addition, the different forms can metamorphose from one into another. They range from a glass roof for a closed inner courtyard on one hand to a solitary building as a blob with large openings on the other.
